Can anyone tell me if there is guidance for using ESFR sprinklers in occupancy where high dust concentrations exist. I haven't been able to find anything in NFPA. FM Global discourages the use of quick responce automatic sprinklers (QRAS)in their water supply data sheet but nothing specific to ESFR. See comment at the bottom of post.

My concern is with that a flash fire may open up lots of sprinkler heads resulting in inadequate pressure with ESFR's.

Thanks for your comments.

From FM Global......
Do not use QRAS where rapidly spreading fires may occur, where there are accumulations of oil,
dust, lint, or other combustible residue on ceilings, structural members, sprinkler piping, large machines,
or hoods.
