I got the following error message from ALGOR:

** WARNING: Unreasonable elasto-plastic material model!
Young's modulus E and stress hardening parameter Et
are too close to each other. Numerical exceptions
may occur during analysis!

I need to clarify that I am using the von Misses curve (stress-strain curve) material model, so to best of understanding ALGOR should not be looking for Et, because I am not using that material model. There is not even a field to enter Et in the von Misses curve material model.

I was told by ALGOR’s support that what the message means in my case is that probably the stress-stain curve slope becomes zero or negative. I eliminated all the last values of the stress-strain curve (which defeats the purpose of using the stress-strain curve to begin with) making sure that the slopes is not zero or negative. I got the same message when I ran again the analysis. Then I was told by ALGOR’s support that this message could also be issue for small values of the modulus (the modulus of the material is the modulus of the material, this I can not change!).

Is there someone in the group that uses the von Misses curve material model that may have run into this error message and can suggest a work around? Can someone offer some tips on how to successfully use the stress-strain curve? What I may be doing wrong?
