I have a piece of water cooled equipment which requires a low pressure at the outlet connection (closed loop system). Please assume that this low pressure outlet connection aspect of the design is not able to be changed. I must then take the flow from this low pressure outlet connection (0-5 psig) into a return line in the plant cooling system which operates over a range of 5-20 psig. My initial (highly wasteful) concept is to provide a pump and back pressure (relief) valve set at say 30 psig to just boost the water pressure into the higher pressure return. The pump would be properly sized for the required process flow rate and relief valve setting and would run at a constant speed. I really don't see any alternatives, but I would love to hear any potential alternative solutions from the forum.
