Is there anything us forum members can do to help with any emergency engineering support with anything having to do with Katrina?

I have looked into this in the past. One possible avenue (for future events, not Katrina) is the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Response System. They are not accepting applications right now, but do from time to time. When they were recruiting in the summer of 2001, I learned that the closest task force (the routine training location) was a full day's drive away - more than I was willing to do. Here is a link

Another possibility is a state or local volunteer organization, such as this one in SC

It probably doesn't apply to this situation but Redr have a register of engineers for disaster relief.

If you're interested in doing this sort of work generally rather than specifically for Katerina.

What is Redr?

Where is the registery?

Google it and you'll come up with the sites for different countries. It stands for Register of Engineers for Disaster Relief.

is their home page.
