Hi All,

I am trying to output the energy absorption of structure using Ansys. Is there a way to do it... Any help is really appreciated...

Thanks,
SAM

Hello,

the energy absorption should be equal the kinematic + elastic + plastic deformation energy for a mechanical system.

See the command ETAB for a way computing these energies.

Alex

Hi Mihaiupb,

Thanks for the input, I did post processing(energy) for both the elements and nodes. When I did that it gives me different output(for example SEPL, SRAT, HPRE, EPEQ, CREQ, PLWK etc.,) I searched the entire help for the Acronyms, but its of no use. Can you through some light on those Acronyms(SEPL, SRAT,etc.,) for which I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
SAM

I don't really understand your question. You can find the meaning of the acronyms in the help of the command ETABLE. you will probably don't need the most of these values.

How did you computed the energies on nodes???

Strain energy and kinetic energy can only be computed on elements with stiffness and mass, or I am missing something??

Alex

Hi Mihaiuqb,

Sorry for the confusion, I was referring to the elements output itself. But, when you see the general post process for nodal solution -> energy I see all the acronyms and that is what I was referring to. I hope this is clear and heads up on this...

Thanks,
Sam
