My company recently acquired the latest versions of standards EN ISO 14688-1:2017 and 14688-2:2018, and reading the latter confused me regarding "Table 1 - Principles of soil classification". How is this new standard supposed to be used in soil classification? There are clear guidelines regarding primary fractions and symbols, fine grained soils classification according to Atterberg limits, but no clear quantification regarding composite fractions, and the good old ternary diagram is gone.
