Emergency Generator and Emergency Switchboard

On ships, the emergency generator and emergency switchboard are typically located in the same room. However, IEC 61892-2 (Mobile and Fixed Offshore Units – Electrical Installations – Part 2: System Design) states:
"In systems where a separate emergency generator is used, the emergency switchboard and the emergency generator should be located in separate rooms close to each other within the same fire zone."
Why this difference?
 
Is the reason noise? as the operator can take the read out from the separate room.
