Eliminating "double surfaces" in Mechanical Desktop

I use FEA software and need to convert the double surfaces provided to me (I assume they were created as solids) in iges files to single skins. The Cad software that I am using is mechanical desktop. Is there an easy way to eliminate the offset surfaces?
