I am trying to recall what the standards are for flame arrestors. I believe they must be 10-ft or more above a tank or building roof. Can anyone recommend a resource?

There is no distance standard for the actual flame arrestor.
However there are lots of interesting standards for the end-of-pipe vent.
Typically you would mount the flame arrestor for ease of maintenance accessibility.

FM & UL only limit maximum distance from end of pipe. FM, I thing is 10-diameters, UL, 15-feet (I think).

US EPA also has a standard for end of pipe. I think it's 3 m above the surrounding highest point or equipment.
