Is the efficiency of an induction motor the ratio

Tout/Tin

or

Te/Tin

or in other words; what is the difference between electromagnetic torque and output torque of an induction machine?

The efficiency is Pout/Pin.

There is some loss of torque within the machine from friction, but it is only one of many energy losees in a motor. Therefore we cannot characterize efficiency simply by a loss of torque.
