I need information on bearing failures caused from the passage of electrical current.
I am fairly familiar with this problem and its cures on elcrtric motors powered from VF Drives or (inverters).
The problem I am refering to ,is regarding "main crankcase bearings" on Diesel engines.
We have large Heavy Hauler Trucks 360Tomns/320tons that are powered by a large Diesel engine (Cat orCummins)that
drives the Electric Generator and in turn this power is used to feed the Inverters that drive the Wheel motors.
Unlike the older DC wheel drives,these wheel drive motors are AC power.Interestingly enough we don't have a problems with the Electric Motors,our problem is seen mostly on the Diesel crankcase main bearings.
Does anyone have any similar experiences?
What was the remedy to this problem?
As I understnad this problem is also found in TRain Locomotives that are powered by identically Systems.
