Have a pin (male) and box (female) joint system in (oilfield) drilling application.
Uses a thread called API Regular. Is a tapered rotary shoulder connection. Seals pressure on the faces of this joint. The threads don't seal.
Use given make-up torque to the joint (is 60% of torque required to yield the pin).
And special lubricant to give low friction factor.

Used in drilling operation with high vibrations that tend to make-up the joint even more (measure this increase by movement of punch marks made on joint).

Impossible to breakout pin and box after drilling completed.
When cut thru box (female) and thus stress relieved is easy to backoff joint. No damage to threads has occured.

Goal is to be able to unscrew pin and box after use. That is, after undergoing greater downhole torque than make-up torque.

Am considering using a washer.
Idea is that excess make-up torque will deform the washer and not cause excessive joint make-up torque.
