Dynamic Ship Impact analysis in SACS

After performing dynamic ship impact analysis in SACS, in chartvue it shows energy absorption curves for ship and structure. On what theoretical basis SACS considers energy absorption by ship?
Can anyone explain about interpretation of chartvue results in SACS i.e. Energy, Joint displacement charts
How to find global deflection of Structure from dynamic ship impact analysis in SACS?
