Hi all,
I have a project under construction with an infinity pool at level 50 around 218 m above ground, I am wondering about the consideration of water dynamic reaction during the earthquake how it could be considered in the design? and if it required to be considered?

I have seen some video on youtube about how the water is falling from the infinity pools during the earthquake and how it looks dangerous, I hope that I will get some answer from you guys.

You have a project under construction with an infinity pool at level 50 and the water content of the pool is not considered for seismic design of the structure. Is this true ?

In you case, the seismic mass of water content is less than 25% of the total seismic mass. You may assume conservatively the total content will be impulsive mass that is, all water content will vibrate with main structure. In case of a small bldg, If the water wt is substantial amount, you may divide the water content to two parts; impulsive and convective. The impulsive portion will be added to seismic wt of the bldg.

In order to prevent spilling, a free board is provided for storage tanks but this is not a solution for infinity pools. You may consider a parapet or heavy glass balustrade apart from the pool boundary.

If you refer here to sloshing.....that is a topic that has been kicked around quite a bit here. (You may want to do a thread search.)
