Hi!
I have one question regarding Duplex SS weldability.
We have an Duplex SS material , more precisely
A351 Gr.CD4MCu - ASTM Cast and we want toi weld a 316L piece on it. Please describe me the electrode welding procedure(preheat or not ,preheating temperature) and electrode type used for this application.
Many thanks!

Hi,
although the material is weldable, if the casting is the body of an expensive valve, why not looking first into a mechanical fastening for your application?
What about consulting with the valve manufacturer?
Anyhow, except for the case of very thick walls, you would not need any preheat or postheat. The procedure is similar to that of austenitic stainless steel. Electrode 316L would do, select a small size and input minimum heat.
All the best,
