We're building a duct bank for a technology park. The primary purpose of this duct bank will be to carry fiber around the park to the various buildings.
Duke Power needs to also run buried power lines in a similar manner and the project manager wants to put the power in the same trench as our duct bank, but underneath our duct bank (which will be something like 8 each 4" PVC ducts encased in concrete.)
I don't anticipate any problems with this scenario for fiber, but I can't guarantee that the safety/security or other people involved won't want to use a duct for running copper for POTS phone lines or cable TV, etc.
How much of an issue is this? Can you point me to some references concerning power line proximity as related to EMI and amperage?
