I am designing a 3-story building with SMF in the front and SCBF in the other three sides. Interior columns are subjected to gravity load only. How can I set the dual system in the steel frame design preferences? I tried to use SMF under the code AISC360-05/IBC2006 without ignoring the seismic code. ETABS designs all columns with the seismic requirement L/r<60. This requirement need not be applied to the interior and braced frame columns. How can I solve this problem? Any information will be very aprecicated. Thank you for you time.

goto *Define > Special seismic load effects*
choose *Include special seismic design data*
and from *Lateral force resisting system type* choose *Dual system*

have a nice day,

Hi,

I think Choose Dual System Order isn't more effective than released columns to ignored lateral moments effects.

Try it
may be useful
