In a dual certified material, A312 316/316L : where
316 has good mechanical mechanical strength (because of Nickel)
316 L (Low carbon) (Less hardness)
Is that the reason for choosing 316L/316?

Basically you will get the better mechanical strength of 316 and better weldability of 316L.
