Driving Component Parameters by Fam Table

I have an assembly that has two family table driven states. In thesecond state a number of dimensions are altered to show components ofthe assembly in different positions.


Now, I am struggling with a compression spring component.


The dimensions of the spring are driven by relations and parameters.


There is a LENGTH parameter in the spring componentI want to modify in the Assembly Family Table.


I have tried asssembling it as both a rigid or flexible component but no way can I find a way to drive the componentLENGTH parameter from the family table. If I go into the family tabe and add a column I can select a parameter button,but that shows assembly parameters only. If I change to component parameters from within that window and select the spring, no parameters show up in the table.


As a flexible component I can alter the length by modifying the parameter, but it alters to the same flexed dimension in both family table instances.
