Does anyone know where I might find a XP driver for a Spaceball 2003? It is no longer supported by 3Dconnexion. Recently upgraded to XP (some upgrade, yuk!) and my spaceball no longer can find the driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

7. I have an old SpaceBall 2003 or 3003. While I realize this product has been discontinued, can I still get a driver for these models?
Yes. Drivers for legacy products can be obtained from our helpdesk. Please contact the helpdesk with the serial number of your product and a driver will be provided at no charge.

You could also try running the Spaceball software, using XP's "Compatibility" mode, as your previous flavour of Windows. RMB on the programs executable (NOT the shortcut), select Properties > Compatibility, then select the Windows version.

a 2003 will not work on XP but will work on 2000.....but, if anyone figures out how to get one to work on XP, please email me!

I tried the route of asking for a driver as per the above quote, all they would offer me was a trade in for the old spaceball against a new spacepilot, the info on the website is misleading.

pgp001 ... If the helpdesk categorically refused to send you the driver, go higher up the food chain. Find out who the president/CEO/whatever is & bring it to his/her attention that the website statement could be taken as false advertising because the helpdesk personnel did adhere to that policy.

The "contact us" page at has several email & postal addresses. I would start with the marketing email address. If that doesn't work, go straight to the corporate top guy.

The driver I believe you need is called
"3DxWare_v3-6-4_win32_reg.exe" (12468kb un zipped)
& for Solidworks (do you still need this? I used it) also "3DxSolidWorks_v2-4-2_win32.exe" (2149kb un zipped).
The first is I think the last spacball driver to support 2003? 3003. If anyone has a later one please let us know.
I use it for SW2005 on WinXP with a 3003 (of ebay 20.50 Euro) & it's vgood.
Older versions did not support buttons (so I was told) on 3003, this does, just drag & drop it, can be anything that can be from a macro.
It was only there a few weeks before 3Dconnection got all septic & stopped supporting old products & removed old drivers! :(
I am uploading it now to in case they don't have it. From dial up at home so if it does not get through will try from work next week.
If you have an email or ftp site I could do that direct.
