We currently have a number of wellheads where we have the choke valve directly onto the wing valve of the tree assembly. Presently the scale/corossion inhibitor is injected downstream of the choke valves. Ops/Process have had a 'brainwave' and decided that in order to protect the choke valves further , we should move these connections upstream of said valve.
This may take the form of a single spool between the wing valve and the choke, or indeed a more complex spool made of 'target' tees etc. Both of these solutions require major re-routing/re-working of the existing piping systems (not an easy task with some 70 wellheads).
An alternative that has been mooted is the use of a drip ring c/w a single chemical injection port to be placed between the wing and choke valve. This is a better solution for us, as the rework may be minimal (however, obviously not ideal to have two of these in line to provide two chemical injection points). A number of guys in the design office seem to remember a solution that was doing the rounds a couple of years ago, in that there had been a design of a drip ring with two chemical injection connections on it (staggered around the circumference by 45° spacing) They think it was called a CME (Corossion monitoring element) I have searched various catalogs and websites looking for such a thing. Do any of you have any details of vendors who provide such a fitting ?
If not, we will look into designing a Piping Special to provide the functionality.
The flowlines are part duplex/part CS (CS after the CI conn) so therefore we would be looking for them made in Duplex, the size is 6" and the pressure ratings are 1500# and 2500#. Any guidance would be gratefully received.
