I am designing drilled shafts socketed into natural gypsum rock. The entire shafts shall be constructed in salt water environment. Has anyone know what is the possibility of a chemical interaction occurring between the sulphate and the shaft concrete? Does Cement Type V would provide enough protection in this case?

kyoussef,

The FHWA drilled shaft design guidance discusses many aspects of drilled shaft design, construction and performance. You should download a copy and peruse the relevant sections. References are given for more detailed studies.
