I had a question about trying to produce a plastic box. It would resemble a milk crate, but made out of sheet ABS, and missing one of the sides.

The basket dimensions are 17"x26"x14".

I am obviously new to plastic forming techniques.
Is it possible just to drape form this part, or would a different process be needed.

Thanks for Any Suggestions
Best Regards,
Mark

What are the allowable tolerances? What type of production volume is expected? Any special finishes required? More info is required.

The production volume is 5,000 per year. No special finish. The tolerance in any direction is 0.10"

Thanks

Depending on the material thickness, allowable draft angle and edge/corner radius requirements, it looks like this could be drape formed. When you mention "milk crate" I start thinking mesh sides, integrated handles, nesting/stacking features, etc. If this is the case, then drape forming won't work. Another application would include rotational molding.
