Downward Compatibility from CATIA V5R12 to R11

I am having problems using the Downward Compatability tool. I have both CATIA V5R12 and R11 installed on the same machine (no service packes installed). I need to convert a CATPart from R12 to R11 so others can use the file. I thought I sucessfully converted the CATPart. This was the report i received:

Current Version : "CATIAV5R12"
Targeted Version : "CATIAV5R11"
OutputDirectory : "C:\Documents and Settings\E5005264\My Documents\My eBooks\"

However when i open CATIA V5 R11 and try to open the file all i get are error messages in a pop up window i.e.

'C:\Documents and Settings\E5005264\My Documents\conversiontest.CATPart'
Open failed due to invalid or inconsistent extension type

Anyone shed any light?

I've seen this error in R12 but was fixed in SP7. No guarantees but you can try a later SP of R11.
You can also try running the CATDUAV5 utility in R11 to see if it can "clean" the file.

There's some info on IBM's Tech. Support website on this error message. Here's some replies from DS:

12738333-Repaired.CATDrawing has been sent to
you. You can open it on V5R12 SP9 or other CATIA
levels (V5R13, V5R14 and so on).
