Do you usually seismically isolate large steel roofs in your area?

I live in a highly seismic country. My observation is that while some large roofs(eg airport and train terminals, and resting on RC columns) are usually isolated using neoprene, LRBs and even friction pendulum devices, most roofs of similar sizes are not. They are simply anchored to the concrete columns, sometimes with slotted holes(an alibi showing someone thought about movement). Usually engineers/owners agree to keep away from these expensive devices.

What is the usual practice in your area?
