do clear polarizing filters exist ?

There are some light gray ones on Amazon etc.

Is a clear polarizing filter even possible?

Since they block the light that doesn't match their polarization they will not allow all the light through.

Essentially by definition, a polarizing filter removes 50% of light impinging on it; a second perpendicular one will remove the remaining.
