Anyone know where (in UK) I can source bends suitable to make downpipes, mild steel or stainless? I can find plenty options for larger bore car exhausts but not for the smaller bike stuff. Alternatively, source of straight pipe and method of bending. Most readily available pipe benders tend to kink this gauge of pipe.

I'm not looking for commercial quantities, just enough for 2 or 3 bikes.

And the gauge too, since that's a known issue.

Ah the chicken and egg situation. I have only a rough idea about both, the answer to one, determining the other to an extent. I would guess radius down to 100mm on centreline of pipe and gauge of around 12 to 16 swg roughly 1.5 to 2.5 mm thick. OD of pipe roughly 40 to 60 mm.

Motorcycle exhaust pipes are typically _much_ thinner than that.

I don't know the thickness exactly, but you can arc weld them at 15 amperes, and not much more.

Must admit I took a stab at the thickness, the old pipes are fairly crusty with rust. The do look like they were fairly solid when new so I would still say 1mm or so.
