Display thumbnail views of any files (not just image files)

I figured out how to display thumbnails of images files using a picture contol. But the picture control does not seem to work for any other files except image files, like BMP, JPG, TIFF, etc. But how do I display thumbnail views of any files (not just image files) in VB6.0? MS Explorer has ability to show thumbnail views of any files.
