Disappearing lines using an ATI 128 PRO 1

i am having a problem whereby previous drawn lines disappear, and the only way to see them is by moving my mouse cursor back over where i think the line is. Has any one else had this problem, or could someone tell me if it is problem with the ATi 128 PRO. i cannot seem to find any solution at either Ati nor SolidEdge website.

There are a number of things that could cause this, From what I can tell, Your Video card seems to be a lower end model ($45 max price via pricewatch.com) Most Solid Model CAD programs require a lot of Video Proccessing power to perform well. Have you checked the Application display mode In Solid Edge? Go to the Tools -> Options and the View Tab The Pop Down list box called "Application Display" The Safest Bet is to use the "Backing Store" option, but you can always try "Graphics card driven" to see what happens. Also what is your screen resolution set to? What Options does your video Card have? OpenGL options that Solid Edge Seems to like are the use of the Unified Back/depth Buffer, also to use "block transfer".
Other causes maybe your system configuration: What is your System Configuration: CPU? RAM? Operating System etc. it could even be something as simple as a program that is running in your task tray, apparently the real audio application that runs in the task tray causes problems with SE, but there are others too. It seems your question raises more questions than answers but hopefully this will give you some clues.

 

This is a Windows NT 4 machine, which was originally running Solid Edge, but the display was freezing with a Matrox G450 in it. it is a Pentium 3 1Ghz with 256Mb of ram. i tried your various options, but none seem to work. looks like an Oxygen card is gonna have to be bought!!

I am using a Dell Laptop, which I have run version's 9, 10, and 11 on, but I am also now experiencing the same problems as you are having.but only in Version 11, it is as if the screen is moving visually but not in practice. Did you ever have these problems in any older versions of Solid edge? Also have you fixed your problem? and if so how did you do it.

Do you have the latest video driver for your card? More times than not getting the latest driver fixes problems like this. BBJT CSWP

Yes I have tried updating the drivers for my graphics card, but this didn't fix the problem, so I tried installing older drivers for the card to see if it was a new driver conflict, but this hasn't worked either. The card I am using is a Mobility M4, by ATI. All help is apprecieted, this is driving me nuts!!!

I have just had somone visit me from Solid Applications, (the company that sold me the software) and they have found a fix for this problem. By turning down the hardware accelaration on my graphics card, Solid edge is working fine again. It could be a problem if I wanted to play games on the same machine, but as that is not an option, it worked for me. A helpful tip if anyone else gets this type of problem.

Thanks for the info. I do recall lowering the acceleration in the past help here with SolidWorks also.
