Hello Everyone,

I am a bit confused about the dimension in abaqus.
My base dimension : Length in micrometer, force in micro newton, stress and modulus of elasticity in Mpa.So if my density is 2 g/cm^3 then what should I put in abaqus? Is it 2E-15? I am very new to abaqus. If anyone please reply it would be greatly appreciated and also would be very helpful for me.Thanks in advance.

... advice you to convert to SI units. ABAQUS does not have any built in units. The manual shows a conversion table.

I agree with portliner. And just in case you don't have access to the manual...

SI
Length: m
Force: N
Mass: kg
Time: s
Stress: Pa (N/m^2)
Energy: J
Density: kg/m^3

SI (mm)
Length: mm
Force: N
Mass: tonne (10^3 kg)
Time: s
Stress: MPa (N/mm^2)
Energy: mJ (10–3 J)
Density: tonne/mm^3

Thanks portliner and mbqueens. I changed my density according to the conversion method. But for Length unit microns, stress unit MPa and mass unit kg, my density unit should be kg/(micron)^3.If I use this conversion for my material which has density 2g/cm^3, I am getting
2E-15 kg/(micron)^3.That means in abaqus I need to use 2E-15.Isn't it too small? And for this density I am getting result, but the animation in odb is kind of weired(I think).Any idea?

2E-15 is not to small if you're using those units. It's all relative. Just keep the units consistent.

By animation, do you mean deformation? You might need to go into the Options drop down menu and change the deformation scale.

Options -> Common -> Deformation scale factor -> Uniform (try 5 or 10 times the actual deformation)
