Hello,
I'm refitting an open lifeboat. It is a fiberglas boat.

I have a question about the nessary dimenions of the foundation of the diesel engine.
I will be pleased if anyone will inform me about some 'standard calculations' about engine foundations.

Thanks in advance,
J de Keizer

See Chapter 5, "The Elements of Boat Strength" Dave Gerr, McGraw-Hill, ISBN 0-07-023159-1, available from Amazon.

He gives appropriate dimensions for _everything_ in a boat, in tables, graphs and equations based on a "Scantling Number", which is sort of a scalable measure of boat size. It's not an engineering text; think of it as a building code for boat structure.
