Hi hope to get some help here, some great article here I must say.
I would like to know what is the formula/calculation to determine what pressure is needed to form mild sheet metal.
I have an interest in pressing fender patch panels approx 24"x24" 1.2mm mild steel.
I’m trying to determine what size press/pressure I need and of course cost. Perhaps even fabricating a press. I could even use several dies to increase the definition of the part if the pressures are not quite enough??
Thanks
Bart

Thanks
But I need more specific info, I guess I need to be more specific so what info do you guys need from me in order to get more specific answers? Such as calculations?

For free, you get a WAG. Greg's sounds pretty close.

So find a used machinery dealer and ask him to find you a 40 ton press.
Maybe he can arrange a demo if you have a blank and some tooling to try.
If it's not enough, the same guy can find you a bigger press.

If you want someone to design or customize a press, rent an engineer.
There's a worldwide surplus of them, so they're not expensive these days.

Not asking to design a press, just pressure calculation/formula as I want to learn but thanks for your comment anyway.
