Can increasing the speed during diamond turning make steel less corrosion resistant?

Yes, I think it's a possibility. If the temperature at the diamond-steel interface goes high enough, there may be a diffusion of the carbon through the surface of the steel. At temperatures higher than 600-800 Celsius, the carbon will combine with with the Cr and form Cr carbides, which will precipitate, thus decreasing the anti-corrosion properties of the steel.
