Hi all.

Just wanted to ask.

My question is with regard to those poles that extend or retracted by pressing on a spring loaded pin, sliding the inner tube until the detent is aligned with another hole in the outer tube.

You see this type of extension mechanism on some older trekking poles and avalanche shovels.

I just don't know what it's called and I want to integrate something like it into my design, but don't know where to look.

Please help. Thanks.

I saw this in an adjustable cane. The "spring loaded pin" was a U shaped flat spring and the release button was formed into the spring.

Try "Valco Snap Buttons"
You can get them from:
page 199 of their catalog, Spring 2004
several types available. Request a catalog because when I looked on the web, I could not get the P/N to come up..
But they have exactly what you want.

Good Luck
