Detailed 3D Threads???

Hey all, Im relatively new to Mech. Desktop, and I am making a concept assembly in which I have a few threaded shafts, now my question is, How do I show detailed threads on 3D objects??...I tried using the Shaft Generator option for threads, but it only does 1 revolution around the shaft instead of going all the way down the shaft...any help is appreciated...also...When I want to show Ortho views in the Layout, I currently use Multiple views to set the layout out, is Solview a better way of doing it, and can you give me some tips or hints as how to add dimensions to it before I plot it,
