I am supposed to completely design a centrifugal pump semi-open impeller from scratch. I have tried to design a simple impeller in solidworks and calculate its efficiency using flow simulation but I'm not sure if I should do some maths before going to solidworks like calculating the theoretical efficiency or finding out the design/angle of blades that give the best efficiency. Is there a book that can help me in this?? any help would be highly appreciated. thanks

Centrifugal Pumps: Design and Application by Lobanoff and Ross has a great section on design of impellers.
