Hi,
I'm looking for some innovative and low cost ideas to improve our skidway. We have a 110 ton, 18 m long, 12 m wide ferry which we have been dry docking every fall on timbers burried in the ground. The ferry is pulled up over 30 m on a 15% grade.
Will probably replace the timbers with old steel bridge girders, but problem is we jack the ferry up for hull inspections. Any suggestions to adapt the skidway to avoid the jacking process? Need about 1 m for the inspection. Additional area is unavailable.
Thanks for any help in advance.
S.

How about a 1 meter high concrete skidway topped with steel beams or plate.
respectfully
