I am designing a structure which will be built of fabricated square section beams, 400x400x16. A flanged connection is required midway along the beam between two identical sections. The connection must support a moment, shear and axial loads.

I have been trying to find some design guidelines for such a connection.

Can anyone point me in the right direction e.g. bolt loading, required flange thickness etc.

Regards
