Design of Branch connections - B31.3

Referring to para 304.3.3 of B31.3, is the calculation formula applicable to 'Set In' configuration (branch insterted in the cutted Run Pipe) or to 'Set On' configuration (branch put on the cutted Run Pipe)?

It can be either, but the default appears to be set on.

The definition of d1 varies depending on whether the pipe is set on or set in "...projection of the branch pipe inside diameter..."
