I have encounter this warning during my bonded post tensioned beam design. I tried to find out what is the Depth offset rule like what RAPT mentioned, but I couldnt find it.[mad] Anyone got an idea where can I get this, from which code(Im using BS8110 in my design) and what it means. This warning appeared at the ineffective length of the live end anchorage.
Below is the warning from RAPT:
Warning:The effective depth for beam shear calculations at 15399mm is zero. RAPT cannot calculate shear capacity at this section. This could mean that there is no flexural reinforcement developing at this location for shear design after considering the Depth offset rule! It may be necessary to define some user defined reinforcement to develop at D past this location to enable RAPT to carry out the calculations.

Suggest you email RAPT support for help with your issue.

PSQ,

As Hokie66 said, send it to sup[port, with the RAPT file you are interested in.

Shear design requires that tension reinforcement extend a certain distance past the point being considered. I do not think there is any mention of it in BS8110, but there is in Eurocode which has replaced BS8110, and most other codes.

So if there is no reinforcement at the offset distance from the point considered, there is no reinforcement that is effective for shear.
