Friends,

How do you determine or select the rotational speed of the desiccant wheel in a dehumidifier? I need to design the belt pulley and require the power.

The power is related to the rotational speed.

Thanks,
Lisa

The units I've seen have had their rotational speed set by experimentation. If it helps, I've never seen a wheel with a motor larger than 1hp.

Hi:

I have purchased a number of large packaged Bry Air dehumidifiers in the past and in each dehumidifier the dessicant wheel motor was only 1/40 HP!! It rotated very slow. This is something that is very specialized and the speed is critical in order to get the maximum capacity out of the dessicant wheel. Why don’t you get help from the dehumidifier manufacturers?

Which manufacturer are you spec'ing? Talk to them...
