Hello everybody,

Here is my question, is is possible to define a kind of "damping ratio" for a defined volume of sand ?

Im working in a lab and we would like to use sand mechanical properties to damp vibrations from the floor which are transmitted to an instrumented motor.

Thanks for your inputs ,Thomas

I suggest that you Google "Soil-Structure Interaction" or "Soil Mass Damping". You will get lots of hits and I'm sure some will be helpful.
