I'm modelling a sandwich construction in Abaqus in bending (almost like a three point bending test). The core is modelled as solid and the faces are modelled as skins.
For the faces I have no problem in applying a failure criteria that deletes the elements. But for the elastomer its challenging, because I do not have full control of the behavior of the elastomer.
I am looking into using VUMAT which will change the status of the core-element from 0 to 1 when the face element, which the core is connected, fails.
Anyone know if this is possible? If so, do you have any tips?
