Question 1: Since section 4.1.7 states "Qualification of WPS's for CJP groove welds in any position listed in 4.1.9 qualifies for all positions" I would think that flat or horizontal would qualify vertical BUT progression is an essential variable which requires requalification. So would this not contradict itself? Am I missing something?
Question 2: Does the qualification of any CJP groove weld geometry automatically qualify all other CJP groove welds? Example if I create a WPS for a square groove weld, does this also qualify flared bevel, single V, etc? Section 4.1.8 allows this for PJP welds but section 4.1.7 only says CJP qualification also qualifies all PJP, plug, slot and fillet welds. Also there is nothing mentioned in table 4.1 about joint geometry.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
