Okay, so when you stamp on the accelerator, the issue is that it takes longer than you feel it should to change to a lower ratio? Is that an accurate description?
That could probably be changed by reprogramming the transmission, but as far as I know, there is nothing available to do that. Keep in mind that there is a limit to how quickly the transmission itself can change ratios.
The Civic hybrid is an economy car. It is programmed to be stingy with fuel, probably at some cost of responsiveness and driveability. If you want a better blend of performance and economy, I still stand by what I said before: sell the car and buy a VW TDI diesel.
