I'm in the early stages of product design for a consumer product that needs to fit securely in automotive cupholders.

Does anyone know of any design standards or guidance on designing for fit? Or any idea what requirements auto companies use for cupholder size & shape?

I'm inclined to approach fit through common travel mug sizes--75mm diameter seems fairly common. But the range of common geometries are important to know as well.
