Creating a Rolling Hose Track

I am creating an assembly that will include a hose track (as is common on CNC equipment). I'd like to make it flexible so that as the component that it'll be attached to is moved, the hose track will roll (coil and uncoil) along as well. A co-worker suggested that the links of the hose track assembly be constrained to a spline with two legs and fixed radius. The overall length of the spline would be fixed but legs would be variable, so that when one is shortened the other lengthens. The individual links are constrained with a pin connection. <br style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I haven't yet been able to make it work yet, anyone have any suggestions?

I was out on youtube.com and noticed Pro/E tracks and chains which sounds similar.
