For my small consulting company, I would like to create a badge that I can use for identifying myself when I arrive at my clients jobsites.

Has anyone ordered badges for themselves or employees, and if so, where did you get them from?

Someone my wife worked with never got given his work badge with photo on it, but kept getting reprimanded for not wearing one.

So everyday he'd grab a post it note, write his name on it, draw a smily face, or sad face... depending on mood and stick that on his chest.

Management quit reprimanding him pretty quick.

Not sure, certainly the situation went on for quite a while.

I prefer a shirt with company logo.

And anyone who saw "Blazing Saddles" does not need any stinkin' badges...

An architect I work with had a nice plastic one engraved with his name and logo. It sticks to his shirt or blazer with a magnetic backer so it doesn't leave holes in his super nice architect outfits, and he doesn't have to wear a lanyard.

I actually think it came off nice. Me, I quit wearing name tags when I quit working in the field and the boss no longer provided shirts with badges.

Its more difficult in today's world of 'HiVis' workwear, but embroidered workshirts (also with your name, not just the company name) always seemed to work for me.

Your results may vary depending on what is acceptable in your location and industry.

The best namebadge (although not when attending client sites) is the yellow and black Out Of Service tag.

I dont need a badge.
My reputation preceeds me
Good thing too as otherwise I would be late for my appointments
(borrowed that one from Harry Crumb)

Does anyone else see the irony in "photoengineer" asking this question?

I don't see irony... I'm an electrical engineer, not materials...

Yes, it's sort of ironic. It became a lot more ironic when someone started talking about a photobadge.

I work professionally as an engineer and photography (of my kids) is a hobby, so my username is a combination of my hobby and my profession.

I see.

Well if you're an amateur photographer, I'd suggest you take this opportunity to learn photoshop and pagemaker and make your own badge. It would be a useful skill set to add to your civil repertoire, especially if you end up on your own.
