I would like to understand what is a common practice in the US (please note that the design I am working on is not in the US). We need to design a building supporting the crane and there are two possibilities:
1) Crane is going to be used only for a few years during installation of eqipment, and then left in parked position. During the installation, it will be used only about 5% of the time (over ~5 years). Following the installation, as mentioned, it will be parked for the rest of the life (50years).
2) Same as above, but after installation it will be removed from the building completely.
I would like to know how to introduce the crane for the seismic load combination for the design of the building,i.e.:
a) unloaded in parked position,
b) loaded at any position,
c) any other
for SL-1 and SL-2 events (as defined by IAEA).
Any help / pointers to US codes etc would be really be appreciated.
Regards,
