Hi everyone, I am trying to get a nice temperature contour for my turning simulation but it doesnt work and higher temperature can only be seen in a very tiny area close to the tool.

My related parameters:
unit used: mm/tonne
predefined temperature on workpiece and tool:293K
heat generation: default values
thermal conductance: 10 0, 0 0.0001

I dont know how to calculate the thermal conductance and 10 is just a number used by some youtube simulation videos.
It would be great if someone could guide me on thermal conductance and figure out what kind of problem i am facing with my model. Thank you very much.

PS: just realised that I left out thermal expansion coefficient for the workpiece material. However, it would be great if someone could guide me on thermal conductance value. Thank you.

Thermal conductance (gap conductance) is used for thermal contact. It’s difficult to obtain the correct value, you would have to carry out some physical experiments or use value from literature. Otherwise, it’s best to assume perfect bonding and thus use very large value of thermal conductance.
